WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF MACULAR DEGENERATION?
If you're experiencing vision problems, you should know exactly what's causing them. One common cause includes age-related macular degeneration.
You may have macular degeneration if you notice symptoms like:
- Vision distortion: You might have a type of vision distortion called metamorphosis. It can make straight lines or objects, like telephone poles, look wavy. It can make flat surfaces look rounded.
- Drastic vision acuity changes: Your visual acuity can change severely and rapidly.
- Other vision changes: You may have blurry vision, have difficulty telling colors apart or have trouble recognizing visual contrast.
- Central vision loss: You may have vision loss in the center of your field of vision, while your peripheral vision isn't as affected. You could have trouble reading or seeing people who are directly in front of you.
